Our 100-Point Scoring System
Every product on BabyGearRank receives an Overall Score from 0-100 based on weighted evaluation across four core pillars. This system ensures consistent, comparable rankings across all categories.
Safety Score
The most heavily weighted factor. We evaluate JPMA certification status, CPSC recall history, NHTSA crash test data (for car seats), ASTM compliance, side-impact protection, harness/restraint design, and overall structural integrity. Products with active recalls or known safety issues receive significant score reductions.
Ease of Use Score
Evaluates daily usability: installation difficulty, fold/setup mechanism, cleaning ease, adjustability, intuitiveness of controls, and how well the product works in real-world parenting scenarios. We factor in both expert assessment and aggregated parent feedback from verified purchases.
Value Score
Measures what you get for your money. We compare price against features, build quality, longevity (how many years/stages it covers), warranty coverage, and resale value. A $1,000 stroller can score higher on value than a $200 stroller if it lasts significantly longer and retains resale value.
Features Score
Assesses the feature set relative to the category: number of configurations, accessories included, material quality, innovation, compatibility with other products, and any standout features that differentiate the product from competitors.
